Local radio journalist and celebrity, Jennifer AbubakarDubaku, 36, adores the chaotic atmosphere of the local radio station, where she has been a journalist for more than 12 years. She enjoys her work immensely and listeners love her frank reporting and interpretation of current news.
She and husband Michael parted on good terms. The marriage had broken down, owning Jenniferbeing heavily dedicated to her work, and Michael always being made to travel the world, as part of his high powered job with a global construction company. Travelling on business for many weeks at a time, Michael would call her from Brussels, Madrid or San Francisco. It became alarge a burden for them both to cope with.
In June, this year, Jennifer is being honoured in a special award ceremony, for services to the local radio industry.” Her recognition comes as a result of her reporting from a danger zone where an unexploded bomb had been located during an excavation. The bomb had been an old one—possibly from world war two. Her vigilant reporting and diligent analysis made her a local celebrity for the two days it took to defuse and remove the device. She stood too close at times, but without her bravery the listeners could never have got a clear idea of the danger. Her reporting outshone every other local station.” said an industry spokesman. The presentation is scheduled for June 3rd and will be at a prominent hotel.
Interviewed by her local station manager, after hearing of the award, Jennifer said, “This is a great honour for me and totally unexpected. I am thrilled that the people appreciate my journalistic skills. My work is important to me and I will continue to be on the frontline of breaking news.”
